Some guide to electric bicycle batteries
ince electric cars are not yet widespread, e-bikes may be an easier target to buy. If you own an e-bike or are looking to buy one, here are some tips to help you choose the right e-bike battery and extend the life of your e-bike battery while still saving you money.
What electric bicycle batteries have?
For new or recent e-bikes, you'll always get some kind of lithium-ion battery. Old, used e-bikes may have other chemical reactions; The earliest e-bikes had heavy lead-acid batteries, then nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride, which were lighter and could still be found to retain useful capabilities for shorter runs
However, despite the extra cost and complexity, a good quality lithium-ion battery with the right capacity is often the most practical option; It will give you the best range, reliability, and life.
It is also important to buy an e-bike equipped with a high-quality electric drive system, as this helps ensure that the battery is assembled to high-quality standards.
Rear rack, frame integration or frame mounting?
There are three common installation positions; Rear rack, at the top of the drain or fully integrated into the frame.
The first option is to use lightweight batteries on light bikes for a gentler ride. If you load too much, the extra weight on the roof and rear of the car will start to affect handling. Shelf-mounted batteries can be found on some high-quality, inexpensive e-bikes, but they can't be discounted. Raleigh's Array model is a good example.
Downtube batteries are still common, but are slowly being replaced by frame batteries. You might choose one of these.
Batteries mounted at the top of the drainpipe make it easier to get on and off the bus, but integrating the batteries into the frame provides more protection against collisions and makes it more aesthetically pleasing to look at. Under-tube mounting and frame integration provide better handling than rack-mounted batteries because weight remains low and centered.
What capacity battery do you need?
In general, it's best to buy the biggest, highest-quality battery, because that means your battery
